CrimAI – Criminology and AI Research

Criminology studies have gained a new impulse as the amount of data produced daily increased exponentially in recent years. Using AI tools to solve age-old problems has opened a new horizon on scientific studies, especially those related to understanding crime patterns and predicting future scenarios in real life.

Criminal behaviour is analysed by modeling and data science techniques. Modeling encompasses building computational representations of offenders and citizens’ patterns while within an urban environment. Data science is used to apply AI algorithm so knowledge can emerge from data itself.

We mainly work with NetLogo for simulations and Python for data analysis. The results of this group can be seen in the publications tab.
